COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - People who live near a busy road near Lake Murray say years of potholes and patchwork have made the road not just frustrating to drive on, but potentially dangerous.

Wise Ferry Road is just over three miles long and is located just south of Lake Murray.

The vast majority of the road, which is north of U.S. 378, is maintained by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). Lexington County maintains a small portion of the road.

According to SCDOT, crews have patched 37 potholes and responded to 57 total maintenance requests on Wise Ferry Road in the last two years, ranging from road repairs to tree removal and trimming overgrown vegetation.

The agency said that resurfacing is scheduled to begin at some point in August, weather permitting.
