STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The Richmond County District Attorney’s Office is seeking photo submissions for its ninth annual ‘Protecting Our Pets’ calendar, aiming to raise awareness about animal cruelty prevention.

The initiative highlights the work of Staten Island’s Animal Cruelty Prosecution Unit — the first of its kind in the borough.

District Attorney Michael E. McMahon announced that the calendar project, which showcases local pets while providing valuable resources for pet owners, is now accepting submissions for its 2026 edition.

“When we protect animals, we protect people, too,” McMahon said. “There’s a proven link between animal cruelty and other forms of violence, including child abuse, elder abuse and domestic violence.”
