SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

From hula to food, downtown Sacramento will be flowing with traditional Hawaiian culture this weekend.

The 16th annual George Na'ope Hula Festival will host some of the top hula halaus (schools) from around the country.

On the KCRA 3 morning news on My58 on Thursday, Kumu (teacher) Rick San Nicolas from Modesto, who is originally from the island of Oahu and Kumu Meleana Manuel, brought Halau Ke Olu Makani O Mauna Loa, hailing from Volcano on Hawaii island, to our studio for a special performance.

Watch in the video above.

The festival will feature dozens of food and craft vendors and three days of competition starting Friday, Aug. 8-10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Sacramento.

Tickets are still available at the door starting at 9 a.m.
