BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Birmingham Public Library is inviting the public to see a new art exhibition on Friday, August 8.

From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the BPL will host a reception for an art exhibit called "An Alabama Song" by Tara Stallworth Lee. Lee pays tribute to Alabama's vibrant cultural legacy. The subjects of her portraits include local legends such as "Hurricane" Elaine Hudson, Sun Ra, and more. The opening will be held at the Central Library downtown.

The exhibition runs through Oct. 2 in the First Floor Gallery.
