BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Summer was full of fun, sunshine and more, but now it's time for children to gear up for the next big adventure: school.

It is officially back-to-school shopping season. Gear up and make sure to get all your pencils, backpacks, shoes, and jeans.

Jennifer Wilson, the general manager of Kirkwood Mall, says jeans are one of the most sold items for back-to-school shopping.

"I would say of the traffic right now in the mall, the last month, 75% has to be back to school shopping," she explains. "Moms with kids, sisters with all their kids, it just is a big family shopping event."

The first day of school in the Bismarck Public School District is August 19, and in Minot Public School District, it's August 20.
