RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Raleigh teenager charged with first-degree murder in the death of 13-year-old Mykia Daniel from 2024, has pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter.

Warrants show Zylon Abrams was going to be tried as an adult.

On April 22, 2024 Mykia Daniel was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the rear bedroom of an apartment on the 1900 block of North Hills Drive.

According to search warrants, her mother contacted police after receiving phone calls and social media messages saying Daniel had been shot and killed.

Search warrants say no firearm was found but a shell casing was located in a separate room of the apartment.
