FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (WNCN) — A young man from Fuquay-Varina is missing in Florida. The search for Giovanni Pelletier continues, after he was vacationing with his family, and left them to see other family members a week ago.

A private investigator said Pelletier's mom received a concerning text from him shortly after he got in the car with his cousins. It said, "Mom help me."

His family tells our sister station, WFLA, that he was so excited to see family he hasn't seen in years.

"He had his backpack on, just in the house sitting by the door, almost like a kid waiting to go to kindergarten. He was just smiling and so happy to be able to go meet up and rekindle anything from his father's side of the family," said Pelletier's stepfather, Jeremy Brown.
