CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Any agricultural success story starts with high-quality seeds specifically suited to the climate and growing conditions of the area.

As South Carolina’s industrial hemp industry struggles to get going, finding and getting those seeds has proven difficult.

Kanda Hemp is one of the largest suppliers of industrial hemp seeds, with clients across the country. Terry Moran is the sales director with more than 40 years of seed experience and says the American hemp industry is still very new.

“The main thing is that it is still regulated,” Moran said. “In 10 years, it hasn’t changed much. There’s not a lot of capital in the space. There are not a lot of success stories.”
