The Huntsville Police Department is investigating three deadly crashes within a week, urging drivers to prioritize safety on the roads.

Sgt. Chris Jackson from the Huntsville Police Department emphasized on Thursday that speed played a significant role in two of the single-vehicle crashes.

"Reaction time is important. It's what's going to keep you from hitting another car, it’s what’s going to keep you from hitting a bicyclist in a crosswalk; it's going to allow you to see things," Jackson said.

Jackson highlighted common causes of crashes, including speeding, following too closely, and distracted driving. With schools back in session and increased traffic, he stressed the importance of staying alert.
