A high surf advisory has been issued for the south-facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands, effective from 6 a.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday.

The National Weather Service expects a large, south swell to fill in on Friday, and then peak on Saturday to near-warning thresholds.

Forecasters expect large, breaking waves of 7 to 10 feet on Friday to rise to 10 to 14 feet on Saturday.

Strong, breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous along these shores.

At the same time, peak afternoon high tides combined with elevated water levels are expected to lead to minor flooding along shorelines and low-lying coastal areas.

Forecasters also issued a coastal flood statement, effective through late Sunday night.
