Families in Fairbanks have something new to explore—Pioneer Park is getting a major upgrade, and the community is invited to celebrate.
A big ribbon-cutting is planned for 2 p.m. this Friday to unveil the first phase of the newly renovated playground at Pioneer Park.
The upgrade includes replacing aging equipment and adding brand-new features inspired by the park’s rich history.
“Our goal was to kind of put the flavor of Pioneer Park into the playground,” said Lee Williams with FNSB Parks and Recreation. “We have pieces that represent a river boat, we have pieces that represent a train.”
This is just the beginning—officials say the full playground makeover is expected to be completed by the summer of 2026.
