WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Warner Robins Fire Department is fully staffed for the first time in years after welcoming 11 new recruits at the end of July. Department leaders say it’s a major milestone that means faster response times and better service for the community.

The department now has 141 active firefighters, up from just 130 last year. After facing years of staffing shortages, officials say the department is finally back on track.

Jaylen Mcilrath, one of the newest recruits, said his decision to join Warner Robins Fire was about more than just the job.

“I knew as a young adult I was like I want to surround myself around great people who inspire me and so that's what I did,” Mcilrath said.

Each of the new recruits completed 640 hours of training this summer to earn their Fire
