A new one percent sales tax will be on the ballot this year.
The Coweta County Board of Commissioners approved the inclusion of a floating local option sales tax for the November ballot at its Tuesday night meeting and tentatively approved the fiscal year 2026 budget, depending on the approval of the millage rate later this month.
If approved by voters, FLOST would collect funds from January 2026 to December 2030.
Revenue from the sales tax can only be used for property tax relief--it maintains revenue used for local governmental services.
According to County Administrator Michael Fouts, more than $220 million could be collected in Coweta County from FLOST revenue. Of that amount, more than $141 million would be allocated for the county government.
