DEERFIELD, Wis. (WMTV) - With nine measles cases now confirmed in Wisconsin, medical experts say the MMR vaccine should be at the top of your school supply list — but with multiple shots required for the classroom, medical professionals also say they’ve been met with “vaccine confusion.”
“We’ve been getting a lot of requests for people who want to know if they need it,” Ryan Bender, a pharmacist at Forward Pharmacy in Deerfield, said. “There’s been a lot of confusion. People have been wanting to know if they need a vaccine, if they’ve already had it...”
The MMR vaccine is required for kids to return to school, and Bender says with the highly contagious nature of measles, now is the time to get the immunization if you or your child have not been vaccinated yet.
