A lack of hot water meant a local doughnut shop had to temporarily stop operations for a day last week following an inspection.

Routine restaurant inspections happen two to three times per year based on priority and location of Columbia restaurants, Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services previously has said. Follow-up inspections happen if a critical violation is found. Restaurants usually can correct noncritical violations by the next routine inspection. Reports are from July 29 through Monday, Aug. 4, unless otherwise noted.

Donut D-Light , did not have working hot water around 9:40 a.m. July 30, causing a brief operating permit suspension by PHHS. Hot water service was restored by 3:20, so the shop could reopen.
