Waterloo Minor Soccer has ended its four-year affiliation with German pro team Borussia Dortmund.
It was an amicable split.
“Our time with Borussia Dortmund brought valuable relationships and experiences that we’re extremely grateful for, that were meaningful for the players, staff and coaches,” said Waterloo Minor Soccer Club general manager Ryan McCord.
“But having reviewed it over the last few months, the board of directors and leadership of the club felt it was the right moment to step forward with our own identity and embrace our roots.”
The deal with the Bundesliga franchise had the club rebranded as BVB International Academy Waterloo.
The partnership saw Dortmund share strategies, information, resources and expertise to develop players, coaches and business staff.
