SAUGATUCK, MI — Hollywood flair is joining the mid-century fleet at Retro Boats in Saugatuck.

Retro Boats has a collection of eclectic vintage boats that have been retrofitted with electric motors for cruising Kalamazoo River and Kalamazoo Lake.

The newest addition, named “Vivien” after actress Vivien Leigh, pays homage to the star’s iconic role as Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone With the Wind.” Owner Lauren Stanton knew she found the diva to match the name upon discovering a 1958 Beeline Sapphire manufactured in Grand Rapids.

Stanton was hanging onto a gold engine, manufactured in Battle Creek in 1958, waiting for just the right boat. When they found the Beeline, it inspired Stanton to add the gold engine and give the boat interior dark green details.
