A refugee’s family fled war when he was a baby. 46 years later, he could be deported.

LANSING, MI - Lue Yang, 47, was born stateless in a Thai refugee camp.

As Hmong refugees, Yang’s family fled persecution from a communist government in Laos, their home country in Southeast Asia. His father, like many others of the Hmong ethnic group, served alongside the United States military in “secret war” during the Vietnam War era.
