The Hickory Crawdads and the Columbia Fireflies each trotted out a highly-touted pitching prospect Thursday night and split a doubleheader at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Behind Caden Scarborough and Maxton Martin, the Crawdads won the first game 5-1. However, Fireflies pitcher David Shields shut down the Crawdads in the nightcap for a 9-0 win by Columbia.

The doubleheader was made necessary by rainouts Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The teams will make up the second rainout with another doubleheader on Saturday starting at 5 p.m.
