ALABAMA (WHNT) — The family of a 16-year-old killed in a crash in a multi-county police chase in 2023 is suing the City of Decatur and several current and former city officials for his death, including former Decatur Police Officer Mac Marquette.
In a filing with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama, the family of Jaiden DeJarnett filed a civil rights and wrongful death lawsuit against the City of Decatur, Mayor Tab Bowling, and several police officers, including former Police Chief Todd Pinion and former Police Officer Mac Marquette.
DeJarnett, who was 16 at the time, died on Sept. 4, 2023, after a police chase that began in Decatur and ended in Courtland.
