Charlotte-based Six Flags Entertainment Corporation just announced that CEO Richard Zimmerman will step down by the end of 2025. The company confirmed he will remain in his role until a successor is named to ensure a smooth leadership transition.
Zimmerman, who led Cedar Fair for more than six years, took over as CEO of the newly merged Six Flags-Cedar Fair entity in July 2024. The merger moved the company’s corporate base to Charlotte and created North America’s largest regional amusement park operator, with 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and nine resorts across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico — including Carowinds, Cedar Point, and Kings Island.
