WATERLOO, Iowa — City crews in Waterloo are working to clear debris after back-to-back storms caused historic damage last week. This has led to a one-time curbside debris pickup effort to assist residents.
The city decided on this debris pickup due to the severe damage, postponing other large projects. The street department, leisure services, and sanitation teams are collaborating to prevent further delays.
Scott Brunson, director of the sanitation department, said his team is working swiftly to cover the extensive damage. "We're gonna sweep the city one time," Brunson said. "It's not gonna be like the garbage route where we have scheduled routes to go to, because certain neighborhoods have been hit quite a bit harder than others."
