A warming trend moving into Michigan could last into next week and bring high heat indexes to the southeast portion of the state, the National Weather Service said.

" Increasing heat and humidity through the upcoming weekend ," the NWS in Detroit said on X. "An isolated shower or thunderstorm possible this afternoon and evening (Aug. 8), mainly across the Saginaw valley and thumb region."

With humidity increases, temperatures may feel hotter because humidity slows the rate at which your body sweats. According to the heat index , temperatures could feel like the upper 90s this weekend.

Detroit could see a high of 91 on Aug. 9, which will feel like 93 degrees, the weather service said.

The highest heat index is predicted for Midland, which could feel like 98 degrees on Aug. 9. Sagina
