SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - U.S. Attorney Alison J. Ramsdell announced on Friday that a Sioux Falls, SD, man and a Luverne, MN, woman have been sentenced for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance and Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering.
Sean Swiftbird, 27, was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, 5 years of supervised release, and a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Laurie Swiftbird, age 67 and Sean’s mother, was sentenced to 2 years in federal prison, 3 years of supervised release, and a $200 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
They were indicted in December 2023 for conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and money laundering, with Sean pleading guilty on February 4, 2025, and Laurie pleading guilty on Septem
