COLUMBUS, Ohio — A crash involving a semi on Interstate 270 South in southeast Columbus Friday morning has left at least one person dead.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called on a report of a crash just before 10:30 a.m. on I-270 South at U.S. Route 33.

According to a Columbus public safety dispatcher, the crash involved a semi and a van.

Columbus Division of Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Geitter said one person was pronounced dead at 10:28 a.m.

All lanes on I-270 South beyond U.S. 33 East are closed at this time. The closure extends down to Alum Creek Drive. The ramps on I-70 to I-270 South are also closed.

Drivers should avoid I-270 between the I-70/270 split on the east side and the Alum Creek Drive exit.
