Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Winnipeg Goldeyes were one strike away American Association history Thursday evening in Sioux Falls — and then watched it all vanish in one swing.
Jabari Henry, the league’s all-time home run leader, crushed a three-run walk-off homer with two out in the bottom of the 11th inning to hand the Sioux Falls Canaries a stunning 3-1 win at Sioux Falls Stadium.
The blast ended what had been a combined no-hit bid by Goldeyes starter James Bradwell and reliever Ryder Yakel that lasted 10.2 innings.
Winnipeg had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the 11th on a Kevin García sacrifice fly that scored courtesy runner Matthew Warkentin. But it wasn’t enough.
