PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Illinois State Senator Dave Koehler has secured over $11 million in additional funding for local school districts.

Several school districts within Tazewell, Peoria and McLean counties will receive new evidence-based funding, Koehler said in a news release.

He also said this is in addition to the base funding the state provides for all schools.

“Every dollar directed from the evidence-based funding model helps our schools meet the unique requirements of their students,” said Koehler.

He said the evidence-based funding formula updates Illinois's K-12 funding by calculating each district's requirements based on factors such as enrollment, poverty levels, special education and English-language learners.
