PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — A Mexican native has pleaded guilty in federal court to reentering the country illegally.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Florida, 32-year-old Elpidio Abelardo Perez-Perez pleaded guilty to illegal reentry by a removed alien.

According to court documents, Perez-Perez was arrested Feb. 17 in Escambia County on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and discharging a firearm.

At that time, officials discovered Perez-Perez had been removed to Mexico in August 2010, June 2012, and January 2013.

Sentencing is set for Nov. 6, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the United States Courthouse in Pensacola.

He faces up to two years in federal prison, followed by deportation, officials said.
