DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case involving the downtown Davenport building collapse.

At issue is whether public employees can be held liable for their actions or if they’re protected under the law by qualified immunity.

The case centers around building inspector Trishna Pradhan and her supervisor, Rich Oswald. The lawsuit, filed against them by survivors of the collapse, alleges they were negligent and knew the building was in imminent danger but failed to alert residents.

The collapse on May 28, 2023, killed three people. Another survivor was maimed and trapped in the rubble.

The lawsuit involves dozens of parties, including engineers who examined the building and those who were working on repairs at the time of the collapse.
