EVANS COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - On August 6, first responders from Evans County Fire and Rescue were alerted to a motor vehicle collision where an adult and a 3-year-old child “went off the road into a small body of water,” according to a social media post .
Evans Co. Fire and Rescue say that, “due to the location and height of the embankment no one could see the car” and that the adult lost their phone while trying to get the child out of the car seat, which left “no way of calling.”
The driver of the vehicle self-rescued both themselves and the child while the car was filling up with water.
The event was noticed by passersby, who alerted the first responders.
The post states that “dive team members responded with equipment and found the individuals out of the vehicle on arrival.”
