PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Peoria boy is still recovering after becoming a victim of a shooting at just 12 years old. Now his family is sharing his survival story as a call for change.

More young people in Peoria are becoming involved in violent crimes. For example, six juveniles are currently facing Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) charges for at least three murders and 12 shootings.

On the other side of the bullet is often a victim who is the same age. Now, one young boy, Jayden Norris, is unsure if he’ll ever walk again.

The 12-year-old is back to sleeping in his own bed, rather than a hospital bed, where he spent more than a month. Jayden was shot in the stomach in early June at his own home, with bullet fragments injuring his liver, lungs, and spinal cor
