After multiple rounds of storms in recent days , severe weather is expected to return to the Northern Plains and upper Midwest on Friday, Aug. 8.
Roughly 5.5 million people are in the area most at ris k for strong to severe thunderstorms, according to the Storm Prediction Center. The threat zone includes parts of the Dakotas, most of Minnesota and a portion of Wisconsin.
Major cities at risk include Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth in Minnesota; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Fargo, North Dakota.
