MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man is currently in jail after he allegedly shot his wife to death and stopped to get a beer when he was driving her to the hospital last month, according to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office.

Police identified Decarlo Pitchford, 51, as the man responsible.

His charges are second-degree murder, domestic assault, and felon in possession of a firearm.

On July 19, police say they responded to a shooting call in the 3000 block of Fostoria Road in Southwest Memphis.
