Tropical storms Henriette and Ivo are churning in the East Pacific, with Henriette expected to pass north of Hawaii early next week, bringing back muggy conditions to the islands.
Tropical Storm Henriette was about 885 miles east of Hilo and 1,063 miles east of Honolulu at 5 a.m. today, with forecasters expecting the system to weaken into a remnant low before restrengthening and possibly becoming a hurricane by Monday.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Henriette had maximum sustained winds near 40 mph and was moving west at 17 mph as of 5 a.m. A turn toward the west-northwest is expected later today, followed by a shift northwest over the weekend. The storm is forecast to pass well north of the Hawaiian Islands.
