SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The policy for Iowa’s Lunch and Breakfast Program was finalized.

Accompanied by the Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services, the Iowa Department of Education finalized its policy that allows students who are unable to pay the full price of meals to receive free and reduced-price meals.

The policy impacts the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Special Milk Program and the Afterschool Care Snack Program.

Eligibility for Free Meals and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits

According to the state’s education department, students may be eligible for the free or reduced meal benefits program if they fit into one of four requirements.
