The weather should cooperate with suitably warm temperatures, and Michigan's lakes are warm enough to feel downright cozy, but it could be risky to get into the water this weekend.
The National Weather Service says the swim risk along much of Lake Michigan's shores will be high on Aug. 9-10.
Swim risks in northern Lake Michigan, and other Great Lakes will be low to moderate this weekend, except on the southern shore of the UP.
High risk warnings mean life-threatening waves and currents are expected, the NWS said.
"Stay out of the water and stay away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls," the weather agency said.
