PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - The Peoria Riverfront Museum received a $1 million gift from the Rucker Family Foundation.

The gift is in honor of Mike Rucker, a longtime Peoria resident and 30-year contributor to the museum.

Rucker was a huge advocate for science, technology, recreation, and energy. The gift was established by Ruckers’ son, Derek, and his daughter-in-law, Diane, in recognition of Ruckers’ decades-long work for the museum, science, and the community.

Peoria Riverfront Museum CEO John D. Morris said that Rucker was instrumental to the community as an advocate for science.
