BRATTLEBORO — A Bennington man was sentenced to three months in jail and ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution for a two-year scheme where he padded his paycheck by more than $630,000 from two Bennington car dealerships.
Steven Walsh, 36, was sentenced to six to 18 months in prison, all of it suspended but three months. Walsh will be on probation for three years. He was also ordered to perform 300 hours of community service, and follow strict financial disclosure requirements with his probation officer.
Windham Superior Court Judge John Treadwell ordered Walsh to report to Marble Valley Correctional Center on Sept. 1 to serve his three-month sentence.
Walsh's attorney, David Silver of Bennington, said the embezzlement was completely out of character for Walsh, who served in the military
