With the new school year just around the corner, Anchorage is gearing up with several back-to-school events to help students and families prepare.

Earlier this week, the Anchorage Health Department teamed up with Fairview Recreation Center to host a Back to School Health and Safety Fair. Families could pick up free school supplies, and also access important services like vaccinations and eye exams for their kids.

Looking ahead, there’s a big Back-to-School Bash this Saturday at the Dimond Center Mall. Officials plan to give away 250 backpacks filled with supplies from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The new school year officially begins next week in Anchorage, with some grades starting as early as August 14.

A busy and helpful week for families getting ready to head back to class!
