SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- With three days remaining, the vehicle count at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally should reach 500,000.

The count hit 425,875 entered vehicles for the 85th Anniversary through Thursday, the seventh day of the rally, the South Dakota Department of Transportation said.

At this pace, the 2025 vehicle count should be the most since 2021 when 525,768 entered vehicles were counted. The count may not reach the eight-year average from 2011-2018 at 553,911

The SD DOT tracks entering vehicles at nine locations. The count is used to help determine rally attendance. Cell phone data, garbage counts, photo analysis has also been used to help determine rally attendance.
