It’s a trend that Loaves and Fishes food bank wants to end, as more thefts from the Nanaimo-based organization continued this past week.

Staff have reported that hundreds of dollars of empty bottles and cans were stolen from their sorting facility as part of their ‘Food for Empties’ program. The non-profit took to its social media to notify the public of the incident:

“We have had another incident of theft. This time, hundreds of dollars’ worth of empties were stolen from our empties sorting facility at 1009 Farquhar,” wrote the food bank.

“The lock was cut, and someone entered the premises around 2:20 AM this morning (August 7th). If you have any information regarding this incident, please call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line (250) 754-2345. File number is 25-24874.”
