A 16-year-old Hamilton boy has been arrested in connection with a string of armed carjackings over several days this week.
The teen, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was arrested in one of the vehicles Tuesday, said Const. Trevor McKenna. Police said they recovered a replica firearm.
The 16-year-old was on probation and had already been ordered by the court to not possess weapons when he was arrested.
The spree began Sunday, in the area of Rymal Road, when police allege the accused robbed a victim at gunpoint of a vehicle he was selling.
The victim took the teen for a test drive when he allegedly pulled out a gun and the victim got out, McKenna said. The vehicle was recovered nearby and the suspect fled.
