SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Teachers union Red River United wants Caddo Parish educators who worked for the district between 2013 to 2018 to know about a potential pay issue.

Red River United claims teachers from 2013-2018 were not being paid correctly.

According to the union, before 2013, teacher salaries were determined by the number of years taught. However, in 2013, Caddo Parish changed the salary schedule from years to steps, which means they matched teacher salary to the closest step.

For example: If a teacher with seven years of experience was already making $48,000, but Step Five was $48,000, your salary was matched by the step closest to what you’re making and not the number of years of experience, according to Red River United.
