SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Mental health is something many people struggle with. One local artist explains how creating art could help.

“I like to use art and painting as a way to, be grounded, work through anxiety. And it’s a way to, I think, channel emotion that might be too big to hold otherwise. And so it’s nice to get it outside and onto a piece of paper,” said local artist Maudie Bryant.

Bryant, along with the Shreveport Regional Arts Council, hosted an artist talk Friday, Aug. 8 looking to help artists learn to work through artist block and how to express their emotions through their work.

“It can be really, like I said, calming and grounding. Just trying to see what you can feel through color,” Bryant said.
