NEW YORK (PIX11) -- The weekend is going to be a gem. An area of high pressure that has brought in a refreshing air mass will stick around for a few more days. Heading into the new workweek, southwesterly winds will bring back the heat and humidity.

It will be beautiful for Friday night. Skies will remain clear, and temperatures will drop comfortably down into the mid-60s. Many outlying suburbs will be in the 50s.

Saturday will feature nothing but sunshine. Temperatures will stay in the lower 80s during the afternoon.
