If you’ve ever had a bicycle stolen, you know how difficult it can be to recover it — especially without the serial number or other identifying information. The Fairbanks Police Department is launching an updated, free bicycle registration program designed to make that process easier.
The program was developed by Corporal Harrison, who takes many of the department’s stolen bike reports. When you purchase a bicycle at a participating local shop, you’ll have the option to fill out a short registration form and receive a sticker for your bike.
The shop keeps one copy for police records, and the details are entered into the department’s database. If your bike is stolen and later recovered, registration can help police return it to you more quickly.
Bikes can also be registered online thro
