ATLANTA — Sources tell 11Alive a law enforcement officer has died following an active shooter situation on the Emory Atlanta campus. The Atlanta Police Department confirmed a suspect -- a single shooter -- is dead.

This unfolded near the 1600 block of Clifton Road. Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum said they received a call about an active shooter around 4:50 p.m., and multiple agencies responded.

Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said a DeKalb County Police officer was injured, but wouldn't comment further on whether the officer had died. Scheirbaum said other law enforcement officers found the wounded DeKalb officer, and they were rushed to Emory University Hospital.
