The Honolulu Fire Department is responding to a three-alarm fire that broke out in Mapunapuna this morning.

HFD received a 911 call at about 9:45 a.m. regarding a building fire at 2645 Kilihau St.

HFD assigned a second alarm, then a third alarm to bring in more units due to the size of the blaze at a two-story commercial building. At least a dozen units responded.

The Honolulu Police Department also responded to the scene just before 10 a.m.

AT 12:48 p.m. HFD records indicate the fire was under control, but that work to overhaul it — searching and extinguishing any remaining pockets of fire, embers and smoldering materials — would take at least another two hours.

A fire investigator has been dispatched to the scene. HFD has not reported any injuries.
