STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The body of a 6-year-old boy who went missing in the Housatonic River on Wednesday was recovered Friday afternoon.
Crews from Stratford and Bridgeport spent the better part of Friday searching for the little boy, who slipped under the water about 48 hours prior.
His remains were found around 2 p.m. at the Birdseye Boat Ramp, one-half mile south from where he fell into the river.
His name hasn't been publicly released.
Community members have been coming from all over the state, touched by the story.
"I actually was sitting over at the dock praying for the little boy to be found when the cops came down the ramp," Laurie Ross of Shelton said.
Officers taped off the dock once they located the boy's body. Marine units responded almost immediately.
