NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is alerting residents to a scam involving someone posing as an NOPD officer.
Police said the impersonator has called at least twice, leaving voicemails claiming the person on the other end has a warrant for their arrest. NOPD says this is a scam — and they will never contact you by phone to resolve a warrant.
The department’s Public Integrity Bureau has investigated similar scams in the past and says it will continue to follow up on all reports to protect the public.
If you receive such a call, do not provide any personal information, hang up immediately, and report the incident to NOPD at 504-821-2222.
